Olive Crane was elected to the Legislative
Assembly of Prince Edward Island on March 20, 2006 in the
by-election for District #2, Morell - Fortune Bay, and re-elected
to the Legislature on May 28, 2007 representing District #
7, Morell - Mermaid. Currently, she is the Official Leader
of the Opposition as well as the Opposition Critic for Health,
Education, the Status of Women, and Communities, Cultural
Affairs and Labour.
Olive
is the Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party
of Prince Edward Island. Previous to this, she was a career
civil servant working for provincial government since 1979.
She has worked in a variety of departments from Health & Social Services, Office of the Attorney General to Agriculture,
Fisheries and Aquaculture. As well, Olive has consulted on
numerous Special Projects for other departments within the
provincial government.
In
the past Olive has been a board member on the National Council
of Welfare as well as the Canadian Association of Education.
Olive has been a community volunteer in a variety of capacities
with the Morell and Area Soccer Club.
Olive
grew up in rural Morell, Prince Edward Island. She was educated
at local schools and she received her Degree in Social Work
from the Maritime Social Work School, Dalhousie University,
in 1991.
Olive
is married to Paul Affleck and they live in Douglas Station
with their three children, Lindy, Drew and Lydia Affleck.
The family operates a wild blueberry farm.
